Best Resorts in Tuscany (+ Castles & Villas with pool)

A handpicked comprehensive selection of the best resorts in Tuscany. From wine or spa resorts, to castles and villas with pool. (+ find out the most popular and my favourite resorts in the area)

Tuscany is located in central Italy and is one of the most beautiful regions in the country. It’s known for its stunning countryside, centuries-old cities, tasty food and its world-renowned wine. In Tuscany you can find everything from rolling hills and vineyards, to charming medieval towns, cities rich in art and culture and delicious food. Let’s also not forget about the gorgeous beaches along the Tuscan coast with lovely beach resorts. That’s why it’s one of my favorite places in the world for a holiday.

The Tuscan countryside is home to some of the best resorts in the world. This means that you have to book your accommodation well in advance, because the demand is high and it’s close to impossible to find a luxurious resort at the last minute. So find out which are the best resorts in Tuscany, including hand-picked hotels and valuable tips.

Where I stayed in Tuscany

Tuscany is very beautiful and there are many great luxury resorts in it, so choosing among the best resorts in Tuscany to stay can be difficult. For my trips I usually prefer staying at luxury resorts in the countryside that close to historic towns. In this way I get to stay in centuries-old buildings and enjoy breathtaking views. At the same time you are away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities like Florence.

One of my favorite small Tuscan towns with a resort in it is Cortona. It’s a charming hilltop town with picturesque narrow streets, medieval city center and stunning views. If you are looking for a medieval atmosphere and vibe, Cortona is one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany for that.

Another great thing about Cortona is that it’s right in the heart of Tuscany. You’re less than an hour drive from Perugia (going past the beautiful Lago Trasimeno lake), Arezzo and Montepulciano. The last is famous for its vino nobile di Montepulciano wine. And Siena is just a stone throw further, exactly 1 hour away by car. If you fancy a visit to Florence, it’s about 1h 30min away – perfect for a day trip or next stop in your itinerary.

My favorite luxury resort in Tuscany: Monastero Di Cortona Hotel & Spa
Why: Housed in a beautifully restored 11th-century monastery, has spa, outdoor pool and indoor pool set in an ancient Roman cistern
What I liked: The stunning sunset views, the central location with lots of great restaurants nearby, the stunning restored frescoes

Most popular resort in Tuscany

Looking for an excellent resort in Tuscany, right at the outskirts of Florence? Then check Ville Sull’Arno – the most popular 5-star resort in Tuscany.

Ville Sull’Arno – most popular resort in Tuscany

Situated along the banks of the Arno River in the outskirts of Florence, the hotel provides guests with beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. Yet, it’s still easy to reach the main tourist attractions of Florence by foot, public transport or bike. It’s housed in a historic country residence of the Florentine high nobility that has been beautifully restored.

Among the great amenities of the resort are a great spa with a heated pool, bio-sauna and cherry-wood hot tub! The rooms are elegant and luxurious, with many featuring balconies overlooking the river. It also has an excellent restaurant that also offers Cooking Class. As part of it you will be able to prepare two appetizers and two first courses of fresh pasta!

All inclusive resorts in Tuscany

You may be looking for all inclusive resorts in Tuscany, but you’ll be disappointed. There are no all inclusive resorts in Tuscany. The reason is the region focuses on offering authentic and personalized experiences rather than standardized packages. Tuscany is known for its unique charm, historic sites, and rich culinary traditions, which encourage you to explore local restaurants, vineyards, and attractions.

Instead of having all inclusive resorts in Tuscany, the hotels and resorts emphasize quality over quantity, providing tailored experiences that showcase the region’s culture and beauty. When I go to Italy, I’m always amazed how cheap and tasty the local food and wine is. Thus, my advice is to stop looking for all inclusive resorts in Tuscany and instead book a nice resort and explore the many local restaurants and bars. I’m sure you’ll love them!
